As part of the efforts of the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) to reach out to communities in which they are operational to create awareness on the services provided by the Exchange and also educate smallolder farners on how to address issues such as best farming practices and post-harvest loss management, Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) has joined forces with the World Food Programme (WFP) to conduct a community engagement campaign in selected farming communities. The engagement, which commenced on June 12, 2023, and concluded on June 17, 2023 had its primary objectives being to physically interact with GCX clientele base, create awareness on GCX products and services to new clients and to also build the capacities of smallholder farmers in postharvest handling of grains and GCX quality standards.

The team in all visited twenty geographical districts in seven regions with a total number of 2,506 smallholder farmers and aggregators engaged by the end of the exercise. Regions in Ghana engaged during the exercise include, North-East, Savannah, Northern, Upper West, Upper East, Bono East and Ashanti.

As an integral part of these community interactions, GCX inculcated radio campaigns that made broadcasts in local languages across six districts within five regions. These broadcasts aimed to raise awareness about GCX's operational framework, reveal the benefits of trading via GCX, and emphasize the accessibility of agricultural financing.

This community-centric outreach venture proved to be remarkably successful, with numerous farmers and farming cooperatives expressing keen interest in embracing the GCX platform for their trading needs. The collaboration between GCX and WFP underscores a shared commitment to fostering sustainable agricultural practices, empowering local farmers, and advancing economic growth within the farming communities. Through initiatives like these, GCX continues to play a pivotal role in transforming the landscape of agricultural trading and strengthening the livelihoods of those who feed our nation.
